Grenaches du Monde
Initiated in 2013 by the Conseil Interprofessionnel des Vins du Roussillon, the Grenaches du Monde competition was created to celebrate one of the most prestigious and appreciated grape varieties: grenache. Initially based in Roussillon, the event quickly gained notoriety and was then exported around the world, becoming a travelling event, taking place each year in an emblematic Grenache wine-growing region.
Over the years, Grenaches du Monde has become more than just a competition: it is now an annual meeting place for the Grenache family, bringing together passionate winemakers, sommeliers, oenologists and other wine professionals. This close-knit and growing community comes together to share their love of Grenache, a grape variety that comes in a multitude of expressions and terroirs. Together, they celebrate the diversity and richness of wines made from this grape variety, while strengthening their bond around a shared passion.
Today, Grenaches du Monde is a key event in the international wine calendar. It helps to promote Grenache and its growing regions, while uniting the Grenache family in a unique adventure of passion, expertise and friendship.
How to participate ?
The competition is open to :
- all wines comprised of at least 51% Grenache
- all wine categories of geographical indication: sparkling, still, fortified, sweet natural wines and liqueur wines, amongst others.
- all producing countries.
